Best Online Bachelor in Business Administration Degree Programs

“The business of America is business.” Thus spoke Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President of the United States. While we have our economic troughs and mountaintops as a nation, business is a major that’s not going anywhere. In fact, universities are expanding business degree offerings, especially online degrees. According to the Babson Survey Research Group, online education has increased every year for 14 years running. Estimates vary, but as many as six million students are enrolled as online learners. There is no doubt that online education is growing at a rapid pace and schools are adapting. Digital learning also continues to improve in many ways, primarily as technologies develop and improve.

Online business degrees are becoming more readily available. The advantages are flexibility and affordability. Though a common criticism of digital learning is that the quality is “not as good” as traditional brick and mortar learning, many students and testimonies speak otherwise. The Online Learning Consortium states that “90 percent of students think online learning is the same or better than the traditional classroom experience…[and] 71 percent of academic leaders rate online learning outcomes the same or superior to face-to-face learning.” Moreover, most university faculty who teach online are the same as who teach on-campus, and the coursework is identical.

Bachelor’s in Business Administration degrees focus on fundamental knowledge and skills. They offer a holistic, birds-eye perspective of business. BBA’s offer training in finance, investment, marketing, e‑commerce, human resources, leadership and decision making, as well as negotiation. The broad-based education a BBA provides prepares individuals for any size of the organization, public, private, and non-profits alike.

Though the BBA is generalized, some schools offer specializations in areas such as Accounting, Management, or Supply Chain Management. Additionally, schools may provide a major with a Business Administration focus. Whatever the case may be, look for those that are AACSB International-accredited. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business is the gold-standard of accreditations for the BBA. In fact, less than five percent of business schools hold it.

Overall, the likely growth of online learning, improving technology, and continual adapting by universities makes online learning attractive for the working parent, the working professional, transfer students, those who want to complete a bachelor’s, and those who hold associates degrees. The BBA is ideal for the job growth is stable for business majors. Financial and business occupations are expected to grow 8.4 percent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects promising job growth rates for the following specific fields: Financial Analyst positions (23%), Medical and Health Services managers (22%), Human Resource specialists (21%), and Accountants and Auditors (16%).

The Business Administration degree at SMSU is designed as both a traditional on-campus and a fully 100 percent online degree. Taught by the same faculty as traditional learning, the online learning environment is challenging and rewarding. The degree is a popular choice for part-time students seeking to chip away at a degree, or complete one started in the past. Multiple tracks accomplish this: four‑, six‑, eight‑, and sixteen-week sessions or a combination of these provide a way if there’s a will. The 120 credit-hour degree is AACSB-accredited. Something else to note when looking at SMSU’s BBA is that students can tailor the degree to their particular business interest: finance, accounting, retail, or banking, to name some. With a healthy dose of core classes to build on, students select advanced courses to meet their needs in their desired field. Lastly, the $272 credit-hour price is one of the most inexpensive on our list.

The eight specializations include Anthropology, Business and Economic Geography, Educational Studies, General Business, Geology, Mass Communication, Sociology, and Sports Management. Either BBA degree will open up opportunities as an Accountant and Auditor, Budget Analyst, Market-research Specialist, and many other careers. LETU only accepts courses that carry a grade of at least a C or its equivalent for transfer credit. If transferred courses apply to your LETU degree program, they will be accepted as credits that help meet graduation requirements. The University participates in the Texas common course numbering, which makes finding comparable courses easy. Frank C. Ball and his brothers, young New York industrialists, had the vision to help provide quality teachers at the turn of the 20th century. Thus began Eastern Indiana Normal School which has since grown into Ball State University, a large research university offering about 200 majors.

The Miller College of Business at Ball State offers an AACSB International and 100 percent online Business Administration degree. Temple University’s story began in 1884 when Reverend Russell Conwell’s decided to tutor a young man who couldn’t go to school during the day because of his job. It is now one of the largest schools in America and Carnegie-classified as “highest research activity.”

The Fox School of Business houses the Online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Temple. The program is open to full- or part-time students and takes individuals through all the basics of leading any organization. Like other BBA programs covered on this list, you choose a major which focuses on administration. Choices include accounting, business management, human resource management, legal studies in business, marketing, or supply chain management at Temple. Three notable facts of TU’s BBA is the reliability of an AACSB-accredited program (only 5 percent of all business schools are accredited), the same experienced brick-and-mortar faculty teach the online classes, and Fox School’s job placement rate is 95 percent. Lastly, you will have access to the incredible resources available through the Center for Professional Development and multiple student business groups.
